The sculpture is a part of the Dreaming of Venice series which includes 18 Mani-Danza sculptures that have been awarded by the Mazzoleni Foundation 2019 prize.

Dreaming of Venice is a sculpture designed and created by Katia Brugnolo, and represents the magic of Venice with its wonderful and ancient traditions. The precious Mani-Danza , with golden decorations, are in white soil. And recall the ancient Venetian ceramic tradition. The sculptures, made in eighteen prototypes, received the Art Award from the Mazzoleni Foundation on 12 October 2019, at the Hotel Monaco & Gran Canal, in Venice. They are the hands of a dancer who interact with a typical Venetian mask, hand-decorated according to the traditional techniques. The Plexiglass base, due to its transparency, recalls the water of Venice, with its enchanting reflections of light.

Translated " mixed-media art " is mixed material art (or in Italy called "miscellanea").
It is a very modern and popular form of art that originates from the fundamental visual arts which are: painting, drawing and sculpture. Mixed media is a work of art in which more than one medium or material has been employed.
Assemblies and collages are two common examples of art using different media. They will make use of different materials including: fabric, paper, wood, and found objects.

Katia Brugnolo.

Katia Brugnolo is Academic Professor of Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona. She was Curator of the Civic Museum of Palazzo Ricchieri, in Pordenone, of Palazzo Chiericati in Vicenza, and of the Civic Museum of Ceramics in Nove. She has designed and built numerous art exhibitions of ancient and contemporary ceramics, writing catalogs and books devoted to artists and potters, and to museum collections. She learned from the masters of Nove the traditional décor technique, painting floral decorations with ceramic objects in modern design.

They have thus been conceived and expressed decorative motifs based on different languages.

Both very dear to  Brugnolo: on the one hand the precision of the stroke decoration fabrics of works by Paolo Veronese (XVI cen.) and Paolo Veneziano (XIV sen.), from another abstract painting with themes inspired by the colours and the refreshing stream of water and dance. After Brugnolo important exhibition experience has created her own original painting and sculpture path, respectively adopting an abstract language foe large and small paintings on ceramics, and figurative for female faces modeled in semirefrattario or painted on pottery, also inspired be historical figures, Nefertiti, the wife of Dario ( by Giambattista Tiepolo, Villa Cordellina cycle.  She received an invitation to Shanghai, for April of this year, to participate in the “Teapot Exhibition” with her works.
